FAQS

What can you design for my company?

Logos, flyers, brochures (printed and online), business cards,  stationery (printed or as a template), invitations, advertising (printed and online), magazines, books, posters, tickets, exhibition stands, signage, email footers and design guidelines (writing and designing).

How much do you charge?

Every job is bespoke to the client therefore I quote on every job once I have had a brief. Some regular clients like to be charged by time, for every job a timesheet is kept. â€‹

Is every job bespoke or do you use templates?

Every job is bespoke to the client, if there is a suite of brochures/flyers/ marketing then the initial piece will become the template for the design for your business.

When you design a new logo what does it involve?

The process begins with a detailed design brief. It’s particularly helpful to include examples of styles you’re drawn to, along with any preferred fonts and colour palettes, so I can fully understand your aesthetic and vision. Following our initial discussion and once the quote has been approved, I will research into your sector to ensure your logo is distinctive, considered, and positioned to stand apart from competitors. Following this, you will receive with three to four carefully developed initial concepts. From there, I will refine your chosen design, making any changes until the design feels entirely right. After final approval, you will receive your completed logo in a comprehensive suite of formats, suitable for both digital and print applications. This will include full colour, reversed, and black and white versions.

If we already have a design style we are happy with can you design us a new logo following this style?

I can design a new logo for your company following an existing visual style.

We already have a logo can you make changes to it?

I can as long as the original designer is happy for me to do so, I cannot change a design without their consent due to copyright.

What do you need from me to be able to design?

A detailed design brief which gives clear expectations is always the best way to start, this helps reduce misunderstandings. This can include:
brand overview if you already have one.

What you would like designed, a logo, brochure, invitation, advert etc?

The size?
Resolution if it is going to be used online.

What problem are you trying to solve with this piece of marketing?

Your target audience, your ideal audience: age, gender, interests, behaviours etc.

The feel of the final piece, for example professional, serious, friendly, exciting, modern, classic, luxurious etc

Your key message: what needs to be communicated?

The main purpose of this piece, for example to attract new customers, increase brand awareness, inviting people to an event,  improving engagement etc.

Is there a call to action? If so what would you like people to do?

What's the deadlines.

Budget especially if printing.

Are any specific files needed for example for the logo or if you would like templates, for example for stationery, if you would prefer Indesign or Word.

We have no idea what we would like, can I leave it to the designer to just decide?

An idea of what you like, especially for logos, colours, style of font and examples of things you like the look of are always helpful, otherwise it's a stab in the dark!

I’ve seen a design I like can you copy it for my company?

No, the original graphic designer owns the copyright. You also do not want to look like another company, your business needs to stand out and not look like another.

Do you look after the job from brief to production?

Yes, I see it through to delivery whether that be sending to a printer/production company.

How do you work?

Initially we have a chat either face to face, online or on the phone to discuss the work, from there I quote on the job/s. Following our initial discussion and once the quote has been approved, depending on what the job is for example a logo, I will do some research on competitors to ensure the design won't look like competitors. After this I start designing, for the logos I show the client three to four designs, for brochures I produce a couple of designs of the cover and a few spreads which are then shown to the client. Once initial designs have been show and you have decided on the design you would like to proceed I will refine your chosen design, making any changes until the design feels entirely right. After final approval, the job is either sent to print or sent to you in the relevant format/s.

How long does it take to design a piece of marketing or logo?

This totally depends on the content and how long it takes to send me any changes. It also depends on my work load, you may need to wait a week or two for the job to start.

What is the lead time for a job?

Providing as much lead time as possible is greatly appreciated, my diary can become quite full. Where possible, I may be able to accommodate smaller, last minute jobs however, allowing adequate time is always recommended, rushing the creative process isn't ideal!

How many revisions are included in the price?

Two are included, more revisions are charged by my hourly rate.

What formats  will the files will be supplied in?

Logos: png and jpg files for online and for print eps files.

For jobs being printed or used online a pdf, if you would like the Indesign file a fee will be charged for the files.
